Answer To Lsd Claims

UNIVERSITY bosses are replying to allegations that a psychiatrist used LSD in tests on mental patients. A Newcastle University spokesman confirmed last night that Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Martin would be writing to the Citizen's Commission on Human Rights founded by the Church of Scientology about the claims. The Commission alleges that former Newcastle University psychological medicine professor Sir Martin Roth carried out experiments using hallucinogenic drugs on patients. A university spokesman said patients would have been from a hospital and therefore could provide no further information about them or details of alleged experiments.
