A French government committee has called for an inquiry into the destruction of prosecution evidence against leaders of the Church of Scientology in southern France, who have been charged with fraud. The inter-ministerial committee against sects said the inquiry should find out whether certain state offices had been been infiltrated by sectarian groups. The prosecutor's office in Marseille said the destruction of the files was a result of negligence. (It is the second time in less than a year that prosecution evidence against the Church of Scientology has gone missing in France.)
